This is absolutly the best sling forum and community in the web. No dobut about it. For more information on slings that the informations contained here, you would have to visit many historic data web on specific slings from specific countries. Here I have found slings around the world that has helped my quest for a good one. Since no specific information on king Davids sling is available, I will start my proyect on making about 4 slings of diferent materials. Only 1 will be of artificial material. I now believe I am ready to start making one after reading a lot of material and looking at pictures of slings around the world in this forum.
Please reply with recomendations for a slingmaker without no experience making them at all.

Is there even another "sling forum" anywhere?

I always pretty much thought... "This is it."
As wide as the world is, there really does exist the potential to get involved in a hobby that has a very limited, small population of adherents.  This (slinging) is certainly one.  Skydiving is another (and if you are a BASE jumper, especially).  It's not the same as guns, or knives, or even flashlights--those interests have a large variety of places to go and join in a discussion.

It's a pretty interesting feeling, to know that you are taking part in something that a tiny sliver of a percent of the world's population is even aware of.

forums as such I have not seen. But there are websites about the topics
and people can leave comments. This is what I meant. Everywhere I look
we always come back for more to slinging.org

most of the websites are run by forum members - so we like to think of them as mere extensions of the forum Wink

Good luck with your projects.

In the Guides & Articles section, the two how-tos perhaps most useful for yoiuu Dr. Q are Dan Bollinger's instructions on making a braided sling; and Ballard's instructions for making a leather pouch sling with braided cords.  Either technique will work well with all the natural materials - hemp, jute, cotton, silk, wool, goat hair, etc.

Don't know how you are planning on doing this.
But I use the following website instructions for my Braided Slings.
http://www.mallorcaweb.net/foners/ferfona/00_Aferfona.htm

If you send me a PM Or Send me an Offlist e-mail I think I can send you a early 20th century photograph of a holy land sling.
