Sling missionary work
Jun 8th, 2008 at 1:03pm

Well, it's quite strange that I've been a member since 2003 but haven't really participated in the conversations here at slinging.org. Still, I'd like to let you all know that I'm still around and I'm out in the field, fostering the love of the sling in others. I've been on somewhat of a sling mission, trying to reach out to the uninitiated to get them hooked just as I became some 17 years ago. The reason I feel compelled to talk about this is that I was on a camping trip to celebrate my long time friends 30th B-day and I had the honor of teaching his 13 year old son how to sling. This is significant to me because I taught the birthday boy himself how to sling when he was 15! He kind of lost the love it over time though and so never passed it on to his boy. I went ahead and took those reigns. I also taught one other fellow how to sling while we were there. As usual, who knows if they will get hooked or pass it on to others but it feels good knowing that I've tried to bring more into our hobby. For the rest of you who are on sling missions, keep up the good work. As for myself, I'll try to communicate with you all more as we are indeed a small community.

My friend told me right before I left the camp site that he'd like to spend some time getting back into slinging so I guess there's still hope for him.

Keep up the good work my friend.  You're right, we must keep trying to spread our love of slinging to as many people as possible.  I'm sure my friends are getting tired of hearing me talk about it... at least the ones that aren't hooked yet.

That's a nice story.

I hope to do my small part in spreading the interest, but I can't point to a similar success - yet Grin

I just got another friend to start, he even joined the forum... something my brother never did.  I made my wife a blue and yellow braided sling (her favorite colors), and I will be teaching her soon.

it's a gang I tell ya !
Roaming around kentucky terrorising people with their slings, redistributing stones from unaware fields without so much as a by-your-leave.
Harming innocent tennis balls, gosh darn something ought to be done about it !

Keep up the good work I say ;-)

the black labrodor puppie chews up the tennis balls, and gosh...

AMB and Joshinator wont be seen for the rest of the summer.
long story short, they got banned from the computer because they are not supposed to have a slinging.org forum account.

This is the funny part.
I asked AMB how hard it would be to simply ask his parents, and he said, "I did ask!  They just never answered me!"

(falls over laughing)
