The one I made is a two wieghted kind and I used 2 oz lead as a core. It is 6 feet between weights. The 3 weighter I have uses golf balls. Both of the bolas I made use 40 lb nylon.

Beautiful work! My own set is 4 braided strands of flat parachute cord. For weights I used 2 6-oz and 1 8-oz fishing weight. Where they join I used a 2-inch steel ring I got from a tack store. I actually throw mine by holding the center weight (8-oz) and swinging it.

I think the mouse balls is a great idea! But how do you tie a monkey fist knot? I've never seen one before.
