From all the slings I made this year, this one is my favourite. It's made from linen yarn, which was a real pleasure to braid. I waxed it afterwards and added a polypropylene cracker. I'm quite happy with it.

Very clean! Can we get a shot of the broad side? I'd love to see how linen comes out in a tight braid like that.

Also, what's your ending loop? A jaegoor style back braid?

Thank you! Yes, it's a back-braided loop. Takes much time and nerves to do, but I like the result Smiley

Wow even cleaner close up! Nice job. Linen twists nice and tight.

And yes, the back braid is quite a commitment. I haven't yet found the patience to do one  Grin

This is beautiful - I love the ability to replace the cracker - how is back braiding done? Ive been looking but cant find anything... I'm about to start my dream sling (hopefully not a nightmare..)

The plan is to use a kumihimo disc to make this pure kevlar sling ... 6 strand round for the finger loop, into 12 strand round with a core, transition the core into a peruvian/andes style woven pouch going 2x6,3x4,6x2,12x1,6x2,3x4,2x6... end the core, then taper down the release cord... a back braid would be ideal to permit replaceable crackers.

This is my most ambitious sling yet... but what I've always dreamt of... I'm just waiting for some bob-eez in the mail to preserve my sanity and reduce tanlges...

Any suggestions on backbraiding or allowing a small loop to permit replaceable crackers I'd be stoked

You're in luck! Jaegoor has some great guides for sling-making.

Here's the one for the backbraid loop:

Dyneema sling My first successful attempt at splicing. 3mm dyneema cords and black leather finger loop and pouch. I think it turned out decently well

I had to upload the image onto YouTube and copy the link because when I attached the image itself onto here it was too big

Love the simplicity of your sling!  What type of weaving/braid is the pink part of the sling called?

When the weather is not the best for slinging (snowstorms ...), then new slings emerge out of my hands. I made one out of hemp fibers. This time I added a layer of (synthetic) wool to the pouch, because without it the pouch was a little slacky and fiddly when loading the sling. Now it is just perfect. I jused the cobra weave for the wool cover. I also applied a little wax to the sling, mainly to the pouch to help with abrasion resistance. I donīt know how long this cover will last, but I will see. But it can be replaced when worn through.

The cracker is made of cevlar.
