Thanks. I weave a diamond over 2mm rods, weaving two yarns at a time. Each pass, I flip how the weft is laid, creating a herringbone pattern. When the weaving is complete, I remove the rods and carry the warp through with a long needle. The warp is then carried back the way it came, so that it is counter-propagating and cinches the weft together.

This sling was waxed first then oiled, but I am experimenting with the opposite order. I used Danish oil, as it has drying agents to make it polymerise quicker. Pure tung oil or linseed oil will also work, but they take several weeks to harden.

I'm doing the same thing now. Testing. I dip the slings in a jar of linseed oil, then let them dry in natural 100% beeswax melted in a steam bath.

On the one hand, if we wax it first and then oil it, the wax will prevent the oil from penetrating, but on the other hand, what do you think, if we oil it first and then wax it, won't the oil prevent the wax from penetrating? Or, regardless of the sequence of actions, they guess each other.

Length 17 inches. It also does well with large 300 gram stones.

Today I made a 85cm sling with a leather pouch measuring 23cm long and 10cm wide to throw several stones at once. I tried it and it flies quite well.

I was testing a new modification on my balearic style sling. I cut off a bit of the release cord and put on a little cevlar cracker. The trees (about 80 m away) gave a nice echo.

I gripped this sling always like I would grip a normal single strand sling with a knot on the release cord. So I decided to cut the sling right where the knot would be. I made a little cracker out of cevlar and put it right on the end. Then I feazed the 3 millimeters that are left behind the cracker and put a drop of superglue on it, so it is a little bit thicker and the cracker doesn´t come off. I like the feel of the noticeably lighter release cord.
