From experience the goat hide is the better choice for the pouch, shammy just cant take the rough treatment.
But .... unless you are having retention problems why bother ?
From the video it works well and Im guessing your stones are around the 100-150 gram weight

I put one pig skin over it. Not an easy stitch for me, it’s a lot like braiding in that if you don’t do every part perfectly consistently then it shows at the end. I oiled the whole thing at the end and I think a combination of the dirt and and the dye that was on the sling transferred onto the nice light tan coloured pig and turned it a pretty nasty colour. Not tht it would have stayed like that long anyway!
I put a heavier cocker on it too to see it it will stop whipping me!

Thanks! Yeah, I'll pick some saddle soap up; it's not something I've ever used before. How does the walnut oil affect the leather? I use it on wood as it polymerises. Will it stiffen or soften the leather?

Oiling leather will nearly always soften it.
I like walnut best because it has virtually no smell and of all the nut oils it naturally resists rancidity.
As to polymerising on wood linseed yes, tung yes, walnut not really,  I use it on hardwood and finish with a home brew beeswax polish ....gorgeous.

Linen, with Tegs tutorial. 98cm, 9 grams.

It was interesting watching myself procrastinate out this one, it took a few days for me to get going with it because I was intimidated. Actually, it was pretty easy one I got my head round it!

Things I learned;

Just because the description of the linen said 1mm, does not mean it’s 1mm.
Do not pull your weft tight before you actually come to tighten it.
Linen is a lovely fibre.

I decided to try my hand at making an Acroballistics pouch. My first time really working with leather, it kind of went OK except I'm not very happy with the stretch for the cup. I think I need a better jig for that and maybe some thinner leather. Regardless, it works great for all kinds of ammo!

Unfortunately I'm down in Florida near where the hurricane is hitting so I only got a couple of test throws before the weather sent me inside. Felt great for those though!

Was very secure feeling even for small/light/round ammo which I've found to be the best test for a pouch. It failed only on one of my test acorns, which is always the hardest to keep in the pouch. And I think that's only because of my struggles with the cup shaping.
