This is my first knotted pouch sling. Made it from cotton cord. Turned out a bit messy, especially the pouch, but it looks and functions well enough. Still not sure how much load it could take as I only used it with light stones so far.

Looks good, I am sure the next will be better.
If you reach its limit then experiment with other materials.
Good luck.

Whelp, I made a couple of new ones, I have a bit of an obsession with the design, it's served me well, the first is an old one I made a month back, it's gotten beat up from a lot of use and the types of rocks I'm using. The other is my newest one, same paracord and same style.

You like it.

Oh I love it, absolutely amazing sling design, could use with a few improvements, but I think it's just gorgeous and holds the stones extremely well.

The two-tone looks good! Thumbs Up

And I shrunk your pictures down for you.  It helps if you get the width of the image down to 800-1000 pixels.  Basically about 25% size of what was posted.  Then the image won't be gigantic on the screen.  We have some instructions for Windows and Mac here: https://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1676672557.  If you're doing things on a phone, a quick Google search for resizing images with the model of your phone should find the right info.  Cheers buddy!

Oh! Thank you!  Smiley

Yeah I was wondering how that was being done, I'll be sure to resize them myself in the future, thanks for the link!

New one.

Oak tanned cow hide in the form of a Balearic. 70cm and 98grams.

I’m going to have to put a bigger and tougher tassel on it because it’s got some weight coming back round at you still!

That looks to be at least 3mm leather.
Are you slinging rocks or balls ?
What sort of weight please ?
😁👍

No I made it myself 😃 I’m not great at braiding but I can work leather ok!

I think it’s more than that, 4 -4.25mm at a guess but I’ll measure it later.

It’s 93 grams so prett weighty. I think I could have stripped the cords down to be 10% narrow to get it lighter but not loose the rigidity.

I’m slinging rocks. I’ve taken it out once with some nice smooth clean rocks but I think it might get roughed up pretty quick. I have some really nice goat hide and shammy that I might sea over the ouch but I like how clean it looks at the moment!

I did a test piece I’ll show it later and see what people think.

Here is me slinging with it (the little thumb up is so I know when I watch it back the last throw felt good). I’m JUST at the point of feeling like im getting it and this session was the first time feeling comfortable with the heavier slings. I was also using my Trenzada. Every chance that next time I go out I’ll have lost it again, fingers crossed!

Never thought of just using a leather strap like that.  I like it!  How long is it?

The transition part into/out of the pouch is very nice here. I've been trying to get this right with mine but just settled on having them look "ugly" in comparison; use cored out paracord for the pouch so maybe that's why or maybe I just do them differently can't really tell (?). Your fingerloop design with that thicker upper part is also very interesting. Any tutorial coming on both these things in the future perhaps? Very nice anyway. 👍 Also what is the name of that holding-knot? It looks interesting.

-

To add to the thread also taking a picture of my latest made ones (still been making them despite being inactive on here; just taking advantage of the weather now while it lasts to practice outside before it's 6-9 months of crap).

No massive change to the designs now other than experimenting with different thickness string in certain parts but some far better than others. Have had issues with getting twisted braids on a couple; they work about as well afaict but the braiding looks off/spirals is all.

Red and orange ones will be the ones I start getting used to (for small ammo/tennis balls respectively); both feel nice for their pouch size. MIGHT have made the orange one have the top knots too close to eachother (I do two like this with open string to have it swing more freely) but haven't tested it outside yet to know.

Next project will be to go back to flat braids again (4x and 6x) and try to make those better now armed with more braiding-skill and have some ideas for solid pouches. Will also try 6 strand round braid; never done that before but want to make a more hefty sling for fist-sized rocks. Feedback from pictures alone, positive or negative, always welcome.
