First time poster but have been slinging a while....
This is my creation, the smiling sling/Y-sling hybrid that has been dubbed the "G-Sling" on Reddit 🤣....
Gonna put in some hours with these over 2024, but first impressions are very good 😁👌....

It looks interesting, but it is more suitable for the ball

Beautiful slings, Yavar Ardekani!

CúChulainn - I'm not very familiar with y-slings and the like, but those slings look great! How do they handle, and would you recommend making one?

Great looking slings, Scorpion Vin!

Once, Toivo and Eino were out hunting, and before setting out, Toivo told Eino to fire three shots in the air if he got lost, and Toivo would find him. Soon enough, Eino got lost, aimed his weapon up and prayed: "God, please let Toivo see my arrows!"

I really like the theory behind y slings but in my experience there isn’t much of an advantage in actual practice. I do think there may be some more exploration to be made in their design elements. I feel that y sling staff slings are something with a very high potential.

I've been using it daily for a while now, and it does have it's pros and cons....
I find it throws balls, and pretty much any random shape you can imagine, very accurately. Moreso than with a regular sling at shorter range.... However, a regular sling rifles bullets, allowing you to wang them much further....
I also noticed it's much quieter too. The lack of spin stops the whistling, so maybe better for hunting too??....
I'm still experimenting with it though. Changing designs slightly, playing with the cords with the hope that it starts rifling the ammo, getting the best of both worlds....
Also, I tried attaching it to a staff.... 😁👌....

I am definitely interested in stone shaping because this is what happens when throwing the jagged stones in my area

@Huntercs - Oh my!  That's a rough one!

There is something you can try.  The little section of overlapped paracord you have to attach the pouch, just extend that.  Make it longer so the whipping that secures the loop to the pouch covers a couple inches.  Then it will also act as a wrap protector over the paracord.  It might still not hold up very long.  But it should definitely be longer than the paracord by itself.

Great sling, Wide Right. Good luck to you and your friend!

Huntercs - As Joe said, whipping would definitely be good. You could even switch out the whipping after a while if it wears though.
