Looking good!
How well do the spliced rope slings work? I have some polypropylene rope and I was contemplating if I should try to make one.
They work quite well. I used some cheap Amazon Dyneema rope for it. At first, it is quite slippery, and rocks and whatnot may slip out easily, but after a good time slinging it starts to wear and it seems to grip better. The only precaution is that splicing it at first can be very aggravating. Overall I do recommend it because of its simplicity.
Pros :
Easy to make
Fairly cheap
Quite durable (Dyneema is very strong)
Cons :
not fireproof
inferior to a Balearic sling made of the same material
Forever I will prefer the style of Balearic style but the style of the rope splicing is very simple and Objectively similar performance to Balearic. The Balearic preference is completely subjective to me.
if you want it to crack nice and loud you need to make a cracker to add on the end.
