This is my EDC sling, lightweight and small with a versatile pouch.

26” folded, 550 para in a lovely maroon with a leather split pouch sewn with waxed cord.

thanks guys. its a decent sling! I feel like the leather is a tad thin, i dont believe it will last too long throwing anything other than smooth stones

Read about slings in John Flanagan's Ranger's Apprentice books, tried to make a sling since i had a piece of rope on hand while out camping.. First version had a wristband, i have upgraded to a finger loop after doing a bit of research. Planning out a pouch redesign as well. Overall, pretty shitty probably but it yeets rocks surprisingly well: D
Any advice amd remarks would be much appreciated!

Actually that's not bad at all for a first sling.  Looks pretty good!  And even if a sling is basic, it can still be very effective.

You can check out the Sling Academy board if you need some ideas.  There's a topic pinned at the top for leather pouch templates, and another one for tutorials.  The board also has a number of tutorials from members posted too.

And I resize your picture.  If you get the width down to 800-1000 pixels, it fits on the page much better.  We have some instructions here if you need: https://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1676672557.  No problem though.

Welcome to the forum!

Hah, that's pretty cool to hear! I currently only have the rope and some basic sticky tape available, so i'll probably try a double bowline weave with a double pass or mersa's folded bowline split pouch design next.
Thanks for resizing that picture, unfortunately i don't have pc acces atm so i'll have to find a different way to crop pics :/

Remade the pouch by weaving on a 'noodle' base since i'm only using small stones for now. Hopefully it performs better, i'll ... give it a spin... tomorrow.
Hopefully the size is fine this time, i took a large picture then cropped it.
Edit: size not entirely fine :dead:

My first sling was a woven para one similar to yours! I still use it every now and then but I’ve fallen madly in love with Balearic style slings and can’t get enough of them  Grin

Para slings are nice though because they are small and can ball up into just about nothing. Also nice knowing I could make one in a pinch if need be.

Yours looks great, my first one was all sad and lumpy with loose weaving and non centred cords. Yet, as you say; it still yeeted a rock fine  Grin

Great looking sling! That type of design is fun to chuck rocks with.

If you're using a photo editor (even a phone one) there's probably some sort of resize feature. It might be hidden in a menu, though.

I have a horse-themed pocket knife and just found out the hook-shaped tool (for cleaning hoofs) is insanely good for tight knotting! Would defo recommend if you work with para often.

Edit: clearly incapable of forum :dies:
