Thanks for your comments guys. I do throw mostly spheroid stones so a gently cupped pouch holds them a little more securely than a flat one. It reduces the chances of a stone rolling out of the pouch when my technique is poor (too often). But it does have to be only a shallow cup or it will hold on to the stone too much. I find this is the case for both woven & leather pouches. If either are too deep the stone is reluctant to come out. I rarely throw stones as large as a tennis ball, except tennis balls to demonstrate more safely. Most stones I throw are about golf ball sized or a little smaller. This seems to be historically the size of stones used here in Dorset UK.

That is a real beauty, did you use a marudai or braid it by hand?

It’s a 16 strand braid. I use a kumihimo disc - the poor man’s marudai!!
Thanks for the compliment. I appreciate it because this takes so much longer than a standard braid!!!

That crazybrave33 Kevlar seatbelt. Post modifications, with over 50 thousand shots of patina and a few fire balls , repaired release , still going strong!!!

This is a simple twisted sling made from sisal that is quick to make, with a pouch constructed with needlebinding. The release end I folded the 2 ply double to increase the thickness of the ply, and then I added a small tassle in the 2 loops that remained. It always surprises me how effective a simple sling like this is after many complicate and intricate designs that take hours to make. The cords can be replaced when worn out.

I’m so stoked to hear how well it’s going man!! Thanks for the vote of confidence!!
If anyone else wants one hit me up and I’m keen to trade! Unfortunately I have more time to make than throw at the moment with young kids etc

Just got this from CrazyBrave333. So this is what a new one looks like.
And if you look back 6 posts, you'll see what Mersa does to slings.

Jesus!!! Wow… ok I surpassed my expectations.
To be fair it’s seen well over 50,000 shots probably over 100,000 by now.
Great materials. I have repaired the end of the release cord now. And I made a few modifications over time . I also threw about 50 flaming rocks with this sling so it’s definitely done the hard yards. Still my go to sling for most stuff.

SITH from Hubert… beautiful handiwork as always, clean release, and a joy to shoot. My photography doesn’t do it justice. The smooth release cord will definitely take some getting used to. I’ll try to drop a video when I have time.
