Gorgeous sling!  I love your design.  Did you do a 4 braided weave including the pouch? Correct me if I am wrong but I noticed you didn't tie a knot before and after your pouch like most braided split pouches I've seen.  I was wondering by not having a knot before and after the pouch did braid hold together when you test drove it?

Good work BlindSquirrel! I personally find that design (Simple Huaraca) to be very effective for how straight forward it is to make.
It's especially good in dyneema. Wink

Great looks set IG!

That looks really good Blindsquirrel!  Very clean transitions (in the braiding) between the cords and the the pouch. Thumbs Up

Usually 28" - 30".  So anywhere in that range is fine.

Hope you enjoy it!

@Blindsquirrel,

Can you resize your images before posting? It's annoying to have to do, I know, but otherwise they show up much too large. MS Paint works just fine to do so.

Very nice. How is dacron to braid? rough on the fingers or no?

The dacron is not hard on the fingers, I found that the stickiness of the wax on it made it easier to twist. I should note that I don't have much to compare it to however. Because it was thin white string, it kind of felt like I was braiding dental floss. Smiley

A couple of new slings.

First is a balearic sling made from polysteel fibre. I'm pretty impressed with this material for fibre braiding. It's even easier than with natural materials and produces less waste and mess.

Second is an apache sling made from polypropylene cord round braided with a slight taper. I've experimented a little bit with the release making a loop a cracker can be attached to, it also forms a nice tab for grip.

Yes it is a fantastic material, if rolled afterwards it has excellent pliability as well. It is my favourite synthetic material for balearic slings. It can also be braided wet to keep down any dust, since it doesn't absorb water.
Nice job on both by the way!  Wink
