Continuing to experiment with this pouch model.
It is more pliable than a conventional weave.
Jute string was used. 32 strands in the pouch, divided over 16 groups of 2
Round braid for the remainder of the sling.

I like the feel of jute to the skin, it is more pleasant than sisal, but my experience has been
that jute does not last long.

4 strand round braid sisal workhorse. Pouch has the same thickness cords and braid as the retention cord. About the most simple ''round'' design I can think of.

Edit: I just tried it out. I am going to make more of these but with a 5 strand flat braid for the pouch instead, because while the 4 strand round braid pouch strings do hold the stone it doesnt'feel as secure as I like.

None of the links I tried here work. All dead links. Anyone know of a good place for a Peruvian sling tutorial?

These two videos helped me a lot with Andean slings:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMJAAkhHcZE
and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kw1chCl6fXs

If you slow the video down to 50% or 75%, you can see better what she's doing and understand the Spanish better.

Monday was like Xmas!  I got a couple new slings in the mail.  The one with the woven pouch is from MMF.  A very generous gift in exchange for some blue leather.  And the other is from Practical Paracord (in case you couldn't tell).  It's a great big 35 inch sling in Channing's Balearic style.  I'm really looking forward to giving both of these a try.

Great looking slings, though it's a big pet peeve of mine when people call slings balearic or balearic style when they are nothing like any balearic sling!

I am back to using flat braided slings.
They are so easy to make for me in a consistent matter
Without twisting under tension.
This makes the sling very consistent in behaviour.
The lack of stress on a reload knowing I
Won't reload the sling with a hidden twist is comforting
Because with a round braid it's much harder to see
This to me probably is worth more than the possible efficiency
gain in the aero department of round cords.

I like this braid. 8 strand Herringbone. Gives perfect square cords.

More experimentation with a shot-through pouch, built upon Balearic platform.
It releases much quicker than a normal balearic split sling of the same size/weight
But compared to a normal slim and light sling, I am not so sure

Nicely made! I'm impressed.
When I experimented with that platform I found that I couldn't get my brain to release later with the smooth cord release. I only found success with a release knot, and even then, the shots had less power than a conventional sling design. However, I think that is just because my power-stroke evolved to account for the delayed release of "normal" slings.
I definitely realise there is a real benefit though...I might just have to make another.

When I sling tennisballs with some of my more genuine style 5-7 strand Balearic slings I also have to let go of cord quite early. The balls curve with effect like in some of your videos, a lot of spin, for the reasons we understand. Interestinly, in contrast to you I don't notice increased power due to this, but reduced power. This is what lead me to make this y sling again, for comparison. I took a similar Balearic sling before this to a tennis cage, motivated by your videos's, this is a normal style split pouch, and the power was disappointing to me. I feel the release resistance sucking energy out of the projectile. That said, I also made the sling too short for my liking. This probably more than anything sucked my power away, so it wasn't a good test. Aside from that, I think the heavier release cord sucks energy away. But I know I just have a hard time getting the same punch out of short slings like you, my limbs are too slow right now, but I know if I had more access to training I probably could achieve a similar thing. Plus, I  think we should never judge a slings quality by its ability to sling tennis balls. Tennisballs are not optimal. That said, my limited testing with stones showes something similar, but my testing is not enough. In the end, one should try many slings, and the one you keep coming back to, is the one right for you
