seems like nobody wants to make slings anymore.
This sling took almost 6 months to see completion, with 5.8 of those spent tucked in a corner waiting... :

My sling-making is currently paralyzed by kittens. As soon as they take a nap or grow up enough to not attack at the first sight of string, I'll resume... or do it outside.

I do like the pumpkin but don't go hiding your handiwork under it! That pouch looks amazing!

I was thinking the same thing. Looks like that bad boy took awhile.

And now the bad looking sling but nonetheless the most precious sling in my collection.
Not because of how it was made, it's just a simple split braid sling with three strand braid.
It's the material I used. It's made out of my mothers hair.
My mother was diagnosed with stomach cancer two months ago. Back then we had some hope she would beat it(again, she already had cancer years ago but she beat it) But there were lots of complications after stomach surgery she went through because of stomach inflamation caused by the tumor. She got an offer for some targeted bio treatment, but in the end that got denied as there is nothing to target as the tumor had already spread into other organs and tissue and as she didn't recover very well from the surgery she also opted to not undergo chemo because it would hurt her much more than just dying from the disease itself. In the end she went home and now is waiting for the certain death with us. She shaved her head and gave me her hair to make a sling out of it so I could throw tennis balls for our dog with it so she could play with it even after death.
I still have enough to make another more good looking one which will have plastic string for reinforcement as bare human hair is very hard to braid when not attached to something compared to jute or sisal.

So sorry to hear that czech. You have my deepest sympathy. I hope she's still able to hang around for a while yet. The sling looks like a fantastic tribute to your mother.

I hope it doesn't seem empty, but you have my deepest sympathy as well. But, how wonderful that she recognizes your interest in slinging enough to give you something to remember her while doing it.

In fact, I wove the pouch and twisted the release in less of 2 days of free time, while taking pictures of the process ^^
Here is one of the almost finished sling (can you spot what is stille missing ? )
Tried it today, it's a good tennisball sling ^^

Wow.... I suggest that you use leather to protect the sling and make it last as long as possible. I wish you and your family the best.

Another experiment, with pouch dimensions that match the original. It's very thin and lightweight, and I'm very pleased with it's performance.

That texture is crazy! Looks like some sort of leather or scales even though it's linen!

Will there ever be a tutorial ?
