My usual set of slings I practice with now:
18" short sling
30" medium sling
40" long sling

All three balearic slings

Good craftmanship Czechslinger & Albion.

Here's a shitty pic of a new sling I just finished today in a short time. It's not a high quality fabrication as it is made from scraps.
But, of all natural slings i've made so far, this is the new favorite. While I love hemp for its supple ad soft feel, sisal is probably better in real world conditions.  As it doesn't require wax & its more easily repaired.
Of all fibres it resists abrasion just so well in comparison.

There's another great benefit. Sisal allows me to use a smooth release cord, even as thin as this. It grips so immensely well.

So this sling is made from loose fibres. 4 strand round braid, 30''. The connection to the leather pouch is tight. There's no movement there. That's important in my view. I'd like to think this type of model sling was popular back in the days. While simple it's definitely a high performer. At the least, it will rival any synthetic poly cord sling.  It only weights 20 grams, it's just heavy enough to dry fire. With a sling like this I could definitely reason leaving my poly-cord slings in the closet.  I like that.
The leather is just so slightly cupped due having wrapped it around a ball while wet. This is better than the ''boat pouch'' for sure.

Czech, did you make those? They are very nice by the way. I like that you have three lengths of the same design.

J, while it may appear simple theres something nice about cords made from loose fiber. Not sure why but definitely looks nicer to me overall. How thick/stiff is the leather?

It has just the right stiffness / pliability that I seek for this sling, the thickness is about 2.5 mm

This sling is ideal for handgrenades, which are much more effective for hunting fish than lead glandes

can you throw rough/jagged stones with a Y-sling? or do they need to be smooth to prevent catching?

huh. not what I was expecting. I was imagining putting them in sort of behind the two cords, which in retrospect makes no sense.

crazy long sling, for pirouette slinging. still haven't really got the hang of it
I just spliced some more length into this one, bringing it from 54" to 68". haven't used it at this length yet.
The cords are a 4-strand round braid of heavy waxed thread.
it's tedious, but it resists twisting quite well for how thin it is.
