Not a masterpiece nor perfect, but this is my first 16 strand round braid sling
First impressions of it; not truly outstanding. Not the design fault but my fault. I could not get the braid tight enough
on the simple kumihimo disc I made. So the sling is rather sloppy and has oscillations and stretch.
Although I like the round braid design for cords, I think I prefer the other round braid (that
allows a potential core), paracord or that type of cord in case of synthetic, or 4 strand without a core in case of traditional, that I don't need a braiding disc for. So I am not sure I will
continue practicing this type of braid.

For a first try, I think that looks great! I still have yet to try a 16 strand braid with a core. ... no, that is a lie. I tried and gave up

Agreed. Looks good. With 16 strands I still just stick to a herringbone braid.

Hemp sling with a round braid, by hand
Great slings J! I particularly like the 4-strand one. How do you find it throws compared to your others?

iI's a real joy to sling with. But durability would a problem with longterm usage. It would have to made with a more replaceable release system and wax coating.
To me it gives less oscillations than a 2 or 3 ply cord of equal diameter therefor I like it better than those. The action is very smooth and feels efficient for a natural design. I intend to make more natural fibre slings using this 4 strand braid instead of the flat braids or twisted cords.

Built for big rocks, it's got a 6.5" split and reinforced cords either side of the pouch for stability. I'm possibly going to add leather covering too for grip on smooth stones and protection. 37" length.

I would love to see a contemporary video of these slings being made. Especially that fiber Balearic since that's what I'm trying to make myself!

Thanks but as I said, contemporary. We have the tools to make newer videos that are clearer and higher-quality.

My two new slings:
New medium balearic sling, 30" long made out of sisal, works great, nice compromise between the range of my long 40" sling and accuracy of my 18" slings. I haven't burned off those loose fibres yet.
The one bellow the sisal one is 20" short sling made out of black plastic fibres. I really like the modern tactical look combined with the ancient and primitive.

I agree with that it looks very good.

Very nice. How much does the 30" weigh out of interest?
