My new sling. The pouch is made with leather of sheep. The ropes are made with nettle.
It's a replica of viking sling founded in York.
It's very small.
Who are tested this sling before ?

I like that sling design, very nice. Although I personally would attach the cords the Chumash way, to prevent tearing at the at cord attachment points. I do that on all my slings now and haven't had a single tear yet.

Very cool man! So is it an exact replica? Was the original sheep leather and nettle?

Morphy, you are right. It's not an exact replica.
These slings are so small they ask question. Are they toys, or designed to throw small pebbles ?
Cow leather is too thick. So there's calf leather, sheep leather, goat leather, rabbit leather, mole leather, etc... And I like nettle for ropes.
two pouches look doubled.
Big questions !

That’s so nice of you! Tell us how he reacts.

Slings make such good gifts! So cheap yet they show that you appreciate that person, because you spent that time to make it, it is so much fun to use and you are opening him to a whole new hobby!
I gave my physics teacher a jute balearic sling and showed him how to use it. He said he loves it after trying it out with tennis balls and pine cones(which are pretty good training ammo). We also spent some time after classes calculating the energy of throws with slings.
I am also interested in how your history teacher reacts/reacted. My guess it must have at least put a smile on his face!

He was very happy, and started to practice on the same day.
After school was over, we talked about the history of slinging for almost 1 hour and i showed him how to use the sling properly.

Nice man! I really like working with fibres. I still want to make a nettle sling with cleaned fibres, but it's a lot of extra work so would take a bit of investment.

After a session slinging my usual ammo (say golfball sized stones or slightly bigger), I threw a "hand-filling stone". I find that throwing with heavy ammo needs special care not to strain the elbow, and concentration on good form to let the sling to the work (as Morningstar once said). Got a good, strong flight.

Standard ''paracord'' model, new EDC
Made from 1 long strand of ''cheap'' 4mm cordage, but it has less stretch than the real thing. I like this cheaper cord more than real paracord for slings. This cord is quite firm.
Length - arm to mid chest. Large netted pouch can cradle and sling baseball sized projectiles comfortably
