So done a little testing and I must say my preference still goes to the light sling. The Balearic above weights about 70 grams,  the light sling below 10.

It's fun to swing the heavy sling around and it feels really cool, but none of that actually helps with launching the projectile, it wastes energy
also had more release failures due to the thicker release cord getting hung up on bad rocks.
But on good rocks the distance was very fair compared to the light sling, but
it just feels like it takes more energy to sling with it, although testing remains inconclusive at best due to ammo variations

By the way, extremely positive on my paracord netted sling, it's my new edc for sure.

@J did you follow a guide to make the balearic sling? I'm interested in different pouch to cord transitions.

Two slings, 75 and 95 centimeters
waxed 8mm jute cord

Contents of my slinging bag

Top: an old friend, thin, good for making pebbles fly a long time

Middle: current go-to, piece of nylon cord, one retention knot at the bottom of my fist, one release knot pinched by thumb and index; fits everything OK.

Bottom: a new sling, made with rather thick packing string. Pouch is cupped-- a final push of all the weaving drove everything tight. The first ever shot with it was on target.
