Does this also count for slings with a fluffy cracker/brake but which don't have a tapered release cord?  Or only for tapered release cord slings?

You have to try that.  Other factors also play a role.  For example ... How crazy is your shot.  Another observation.  If your sling is very long you don't need this brake.  A braking effect is already achieved through the length alone.

About bending the line backwards. This also happen without a fluffy brake, correct? Due to the inertia of the release end?

Nice, I love balearic slings, is it 40" folded or unfolded? That is a tight looking braid which is good.

40” folded.

This sling throws far. The length from extended arm to other shoulder with ~1.8 mm waxxed hemp cords. I can reach 200 meters with stones (flat ground, sea level), but only with my version of Greek style and a wide grip I can get the right angle for release due to the extreme thin cords

EDIT: Changed the release tab to a smaller double overhand knot. Gives a much better release.
The tab was way out of proportion in terms of weight compared to the release cord

Albion I am impressed.  Looks like Cordaillot.  😂 How did you do it?  I like to shoot stones like the one in your picture with it.  In fact, they can also be found in the original.  And is it a slingshot for you? 🔝

It is made by weaving over toothpicks, and the warp is counter-propagating. I used a different weft for each side of the bed. I like how efficient the method is.
I like to sling 150g stones with it, but I am amazed that it can also throw up to ~250g as well without any real problems. The cords twisting during the throw just doesn't seem to be an issue. It is my favourite sling design.
The double finger-loop and replaceable cracker is working a treat as well.  Wink

You definitely succeeded.  I don't like weaving with chopsticks that much.  But that's such a personal thing.  I like shooting with this model too.  It's a simple design but very functional

MikeG - Did you use loose fibers or cords?  If cords, did you add more strands to fatten the sides of the pouch?

I made this out of jute kinda like a Balearic but messed up the pouch based on the only tutorial I found you apparently splice in more stuff after you start the split pouch  and I messed up the splice endings on the release cord the ends were poking out

I think it's great looking sling! Yes you are supposed to splice in more strands after starting the split for it to be considered a "true balearic sling" by some standarts(beware that this standart is not universal). If you braid it tight enough you can just cut of the ends poking out, the tightness of the braid will hold it together.

I think you did very well and it looks like a pretty good balearic.
