By the way, the leather doesn’t need to be that far up the release cord. The first few inches are what get damaged.

Derived from the Cortaillod, it's essentially the same but with one side missing. It's a designated tear-drop ammo sling, and it works very well with these projectiles. Tear-drop ammo performs excellently with the standard Cortaillod design as well.
Sling weighs 9.4g

Thank you. Experimentation revealed that tear-drop ammo works with the Cortaillod design, and since the tear drop only sits on the left side (with the spine supporting the tail), the right side of the pouch is unnecessary.

The only contact with the pouch is on the left side, and the centre of mass is almost in the middle, due to the tail of the projectile acting as a counterbalance. On release, contact with the cords is very minimal because the thick portion of the teardrop is already ahead of the cords (when loaded). Also, because most of the force is pushing down left of the spine, it makes it open and tilt very freely on release.

@Albion very clever design for that projectile shape. I have had great success rifling teardrop clay with a standard slings as well but that could work even better.

Here are some netted slings, very simple design with splices

I would guess, that they are very light. What is the weight of them ?

Without counting the weight of the release tab and retention loop

white one- 14g
black red- 11g
grey-white - 8g

these are my Greek style slings, I generally do not use multiple rotations with these slings, I might do Byzantine style with them occasionally.

Some people prefer light slings, but i am not one of them. (mine are very heavy)

I like them with Greek style and Byzantine style only. They throw really efficient. If I do Balaeric style I prefer a Balaeric sling which tend to be heavier.

Wow those slings are really light! I might have to attempt one of those with wild-harvested cordage at some point. Smiley
