When that sling I have from Luis is this stiff, it is a terrible sling to use for normal slinging. Like all the
rotation solely comes from the wrist. It's a dog to use. A sling must be pliable and supple in order to work, or it wouldn't be a sling, but a solid extension, like an
atlatl stick. I like my slings to be ''stiff enough'' so that the cords do not cross each other when I turn my wrist back and forth.
Make the sling stiffer than what is required, and it won't release well and suck energy from the system, make it too supple/pliable, and lose control over pouch orientation. I experimented with both. Find the perfect balance that is required for your ammo
If you are not able to find this balance due to circumstances, than it's better your sling is too supple/pliable than too stiff, because you can still put a bandaid on that on too suppleness with Greek style, byzantine or any style without a rotor or spherical shot. Or simply deal with a more erratic shot. But a too stiff sling will not sling, or require extremely heavy ammo to open.

That would explain why I couldn't see any benefits.  Grin

Many thanks for the clear explanation.

Thanks everyone! Metal has a weight from 30 grams to 120. The stones weighed 80-100 grams and 400 grams are heavy

Wow that is very stiff! the one I got from him is very supple and not at all rigid. I think he must of worked the fibre wet or soaked the sling afterwards.

I have the sling inside a warm house now for a few days. Now it is as limp as a noodle.
It probably is moisture and the cold causing it. It really changes the characteristics of the sling.
I don't like it. My jute slings also have this. Very stiff in a cold and humid environmet, very limp when it warms and dries up. Maybe hemp is better to deal with this. My synthetic slings are not affected by it.

edit seems like it's mostly the high humidity. It swells the fibres.
