Very neat. Did you make the pouch like in those paracord tutorials?

Similar to those tutorials but modified to suit me

I am experimenting with different sizes of release tabs
so far I still prefer the full fist tab over a thumb + index and middle finger only tab.

A light release tab like the one in this hemp sling really reduces the noise of the sling to almost nothing,
it is very stealthy. The lack of a sonic crack should also enhance durability.

A problem arises for me when I grip the tab below and on the tab, than it acts like a big release knot and it
gets hooked on my releasing fingers upon release resulting in inconsistent releases.

But when I grip the tab only on the tab, the exit of the tab from my hand is very clean.

A light tab seems to be good, it doesn't have much 'recoil', in contrast to a heavy tab, which can feel like I am  throwing a 'handle''. A bad feel but it does not seem to have an effect on the stone.

Slings with some interesting design features!
J, haven't seen an open tab like that before but I imagine it would provide a reasonable grip.

A wild Apache appears in the undergrowth...

Thought I'd give the design a try.
Made of hemp with waxed cotton canvas for the pouch.

Nice sling bro! Youve been killing it lately with all the very fine looking death noodles.

@Albion  Do you notice any differences from your usual balearics in terms of performance/timing?

@Albion yes, it is one aspect I like of twisted cords, the ability to splice. it makes it easy to make a loop and a tab.
I left the tab open here without weft, to make it lighter than if it was woven. The New Caledonia sling inspired me.
I don't know how he made the tuft. But it lead to this.

Yes it was different, not by a lot, but noticeable. First thing I found was that it imparted more spin on projectiles, second was when I was throwing stones that were smaller than sides of the pouch and noticed that they released late. Another interesting discovery was that it worked particularly well with big stones, which makes sense because they cant sit below the split which would result in a late release (same reason why the smaller stones don't work so well). I find it's also slightly quicker to load because you don't have to position the stone as carefully, which would likely big plus if loading under stress.
So if I were to make a conclusion based on that experience alone I'd say that Balearics are better if using mixed ammo, Apaches are better if using selected ammo (but not by much either way).

Thank you J!

Albion slinger, your sling looking originally and interesting,
As for the release, as already mentioned in one of the topics, the mass of the projectile must be sufficient so that it has enough inertia to fly out on time.
It turns out that the Balearic slings are a smoothbore gun, and the Apaches are a rifled gun, due to the rotation  Grin

@Scorpion Vin I suspect you are confusing general split pouches to a Balearic split pouch sling, the latter requires quite unique characteristics to count as a Balaeric and provides plenty of spin. You should contact Luis Livermore for buying a genuine Balaeric sling and see what it's all about.  I didn't really understand them until I bought one from the Islands. He also accepts cash.
I literally posted him a 50 euro bill over the mail to get mine lol, cause I don't have paypal.

This is the result of my todays slinging session.
Using my new short jute balearic sling with balearic sidearm throwing style.
Target: 30x60cm open pizza box(what me and my friends call Franta) at 10 to 20m, hit count: 20, shots taken:30

not bad for 10 month slinger
