is that wax sticky or dry?
It's 100% beeswax so it's a bit tacky, but that I find that good so that you can grip it better.

What material are they?
They are both braided from DK weight hemp yarns. I like it, It's quite a good material.

I have tried splicing in just before the split, but it never worked out quite like yours.
I splice in the fibers right after the split, and then remove them after I rejoin the split.

A couple more, 20" and waxed 24".
It looks more than professional.
I'm wondering how long is your split pouch? Visually 16-18 centimeters
or 7 inches

Both of them have a 5" long pouch. I recently made the switch from 6" which you only really need if you want to throw very big stones.

Well my dog ate my favorite sling
Fortunately he just ate the release cord... easy fix even if it doesn’t quite match the old cord

Uh uh not this time NOOC. Those sir are human teeth marks!!! Nooc, how did it come to this? That being said addiction to paracord is a disease. This is not your fault my friend. I am addicted to turtle collecting if that makes you feel better.
Damn...im getting weird again. Not enough sleep.

I am experimenting again with a fist-length release 'tab'.
I notice that the release is clean when my release grip is
only
on the tab and not on
and
below the tab.
It seems to work for me so far.
The stone you see here is around 350g
The sling length 70 cm ,with 20 cm leather belt pouch
It has thin cords because I intend it only for Greek style.
I don't notice any real problems with cord-twist and heavy rocks as long as I don't use multiple rotations.
The benefit for a fist long release tab seems to come into play with artillery sized rocks like this. It allows me to handle heavy rocks better. The downside for me seems to be a somewhat delayed release for very light projectiles. This because there is more inertia to overcome in opening of the pouch due to the heavier release cord. In my case it is also caused by quite heavy and large leather pouch. However, another benefit of the long tab for me is that it silences the sling quite, the sharp paracord whishing sound greatly reduced upon my release. A downside seems that the the release cord does flop out and about after a release, because of the concentration of weight at the end of the release cord. But this does not seem to have an effect on hte projectile for me, because the projectile is long gone out of the pouch

Another Egyptian, made using Teg's study of the Kahun object in Manchester Museum. The two warp strands are larger diameter than the weft and are reverse-twisted together to make the retention and release cords.

Great sling David!
It looks neat. Woven slings are probably very difficult and long to make
