You sir have a tab growing out of your cord. That is quite convenient.

You liking this new round of slings? Seems like you are on a roll.

Hey you know what I bet you won't do. I bet you won't build a bow. You see that JudoP that's me questioning your resolve. You won't do it...you're not down...

Actually that's more of me trying to drag you down to our bow building threads. C'mon man join us!

I've had a lot of time in the past week or so! Probably less so now, but I'm not short on new ideas and refinements at all.

I've fought with tabs quite a bit, couldn't get them to work for me as they seem to make the release quite jerky and heavy for my personal taste. However, I've grown to like this minimalist version for slings which are too slippery or thin when grabbing the release cord alone. I'd never have a secure grip on that slippery nylon without a knot or a tab, and from the two I prefer tabs.

As for bow making I did consider it for a time but I'm not entirely sure I have the tools, setup or space to do it in my current (rented) accommodation. Once I get my own place I'm gonna get a good workshop going for sure though  Cheesy

A couple of slings I did a while ago.

Red wool Balearic 15", with 226g stone for reference.
Braided very tightly with seven strands, making it very rigid and inelastic.

Thin hemp Balearic 27" (also braided with seven strands)

They look great, I'm not sure I've seen a balearic sling in wool before.  Have you treated the wool at all by soaking/drying under tension or waxing? How long is the split on the hemp sling? Looks pretty long but it's difficult to tell from photos.

Those are really pretty and well refined.
I sometimes switch to putting the loop on my index finger with Balaeric slings because the Balaeric does not really need cord-seperation to prevent twisting all that much. However, loose-fitting finger loops on my Balaerics tend to fly off my index finger, have you had this happen to you?

Super beautiful! I've been working on the pile of unfinished sling I have but none are looking as good as these.

Cheers. The wool is not treated at all, just simply braided as tightly as possible, and I think it is actually the best way to remove wool's excessive elasticity. Naturally, more strands used in the braid, the stiffer it will be.
Both cradles are 6" long, which is my go-to length.

You hit the nail on the head. I personally prefer having the ring on the index finger for a couple of reasons, and with a Balearic sling I can do so without any consequence. When I first started having it on the index finger the sling came off on a couple of occasions, but it was the same with the middle finger. Hasn't happened since then however.

What makes a sling “Greek style”? Or are you just from Greece perhaps?  Grin
