Nice slings J!
JudoP, that is quite beautiful! I'm currently working on a black and white sling as well. The one I'm doing is hemp. Should be done within the next week.

That is a textbook picture perfect sling right there JudoP
I untwisted the previous sling I made from manilla. It is not working properly.
I don't know why. But its fouling shots and its not whipsnapping properly.
maybe 2ply twists have some inert reason it doesn't work well with tapering.
Either way I have no such problems with braided slings.
Twisted cord is probably best left as string with a universal thickness and not as a tapered thong.
Instead now I am braiding a Balaeric out of it but with a thinner middle braid in the middle of the split, like with the etruscans, I am liking the way that is working out.

I made a few plaited wool over hemp slings, but they are not as pretty.

Apache with a jute core and acrylic wool covering. Took a long time to make! Now I can finally get to work on the SITH offering...
This is a thing of beauty, nice work.

This is the braid one of my daughters copied from an internet tutorial to make me a sling. It comes out square and looks pretty cool.
The pouch is basic split pouch and the release cord is a tapering braid. I don't really use it because it doesn't work well with tennis balls but I like it hanging in my room.

These are very basic woolen slings the kids made, nothing special compared to what I see on here, but they put in a lot of effort and they're still in use 8 months later. We no longer use these rubber balls because they're not available, but they were much better than tennis balls.

Very simple paracord sling but I have trusted it for over a year now and has never failed me. It is my first "true" sling.
Before that I spent a year using one made of regular twisted rope.

Have you considered weaving through 5 strands instead of 3 to get a wider pouch?

Yes, the kids like colourful stuff, plus no arguments about who owns which sling
