Use a children's loom. They don't cost a lot and are very suitable.

Thanks Tomas, it's what slinging is all about for me.
I'm pretty old and have no slinging ambitions beyond getting food and battering things with stones. But the kids might.
Plus they're more photogenic... I'm pretty ugly and heavily tattooed

That's high-end staff sling ammo! Did you hand-sling that?

I have thrown it yes, but the sling is 20" and I find it's much easier to throw it with a pirouette compared to "Balearic" style. I find it amusing how light 500g stones feel after throwing the giant ones. 500g is a lot more practical (no surprise there!).

A full fist grip makes it a lot easier. I think a lot of it comes down to grip rather than strength when throwing such stones. Also, when I say it's more practical, I think its more a statement of the impracticality of the Goliath stone.
