True, but it still annoys me that I can't get the hang of it Grin

That is amazing. I can only imagine how long it would take to make one of those

Yes, it is amazing. But while marveling at this sling, I constantly ask myself: Why? E.g. the feather-adorned release "knob" (?). And it may be quite heavy and thus akward to swing? And the strings might also be rather fragile as they seem to be rather thin...

Anyone in for a reconstruction?  Cheesy

It's beautiful, but I would assess it more as a ceremonial item than as a sling for use...
There are andean sling slings for ceremonial use, but these are quite different from this one.

My 1st thought was ceremonial as well. Maybe made as a gift to a ruler, of a different tribe.

That makes sense. If it's going to be used in the next life, you want it to be classy Cheesy

A really simple and easy to make sling out of 4 strands of ~2+ meter long hemp and a piece of leather with the adjustable loop I copied from Jeagoor

Nice! I made a similar sling a little while ago but haven't really used it at all. It's a good design though.

In a time when each bead had to be created from scratch that sling must have taken a long time to make.

100% Hemp sling

Done some slinging today with it. A little getting used to but works great. Very clean release.
