I've always been curious how well a sling would work as a survival weapon without having leather to make it more durable. Most of my non leather pouches don't last as long as I would like.

For survival, you just have to be able to hunt more calories than it takes to make a new sling. That really depends on what you hunt and how good/lucky you are. Depending on your skill level, it might be more efficient to make a survival bow, or, if you live in Texas like Morphy... use a shotgun Grin

64-inch Balearic style sling, made from sisal, with a pouch size of four inches. Ammo normally used are tennis balls. (Sorry for such a large photo, still figuring out how to use the forum...)

Nice sling. Don’t worry about it, took me a while to figure out resizing aswell. If you’re on a phone get a photo editing app with a resizer tool, on computer, there’s probably a already installed one by defalt, the best size for this site is 600x800 or 800x600.

A sling pic, and a question.  This is a paracord sling I made quite a while back.  It's similar to the single cord split pouch design from Mersa.  But it's made from 2 cords (as can be seen from the two colors).

...

Here's a closer shot of the pouch.

...

And the question.  Does anyone recall seeing a sling like this, or a tutorial anywhere?  It's been a long enough time since I made it that I don't remember where I found the instructions.  It's definitely possible it was on this forum, but I haven't been able to find it.

I would like to try to recreate it with a slightly larger pouch and longer cords, but there are a couple places where the cords tuck underneath and I can't see exactly what's happening.  I'm working on another sling right now.  If I don't find anything by the time that's done, I'll probably just give it a go and try to figure it out.

Scratch that.  It's the Woven Paracord Sling on the Tutorials page.  So there's another sling picture for everyone anyway Smiley

Earlier this month I placed an order for some slings from Amdo Craft.  They arrived the other day.  They're all absolutely beautiful.  I can't wait to give them a try.

The given measurements are from the center of the pouch to my release point.  They didn't come with tied release knot.  I'll probably leave them that way because I generally don't use a release knot in my slings.
