Heres a few I've made recently. Most are jute and hemp, but the blue one with the grey leather is a sort of marine rope.

Really nice. I particularly like the one with the black lengths. Might want to resize the pictures though. Most photos end up massive when uploaded.

Haha yeah, sorry about that. I'll have to figure out how to do that from my phone. That sling, I gave to my wife's grandpa, and the one with the yellow/green lengths I actually traded for an Everlast heavy bag a couple days ago. I might take some to my local craft/flea market. Most people dont know they want a sling until they see a nice one.  Wink

Just finished up a Balearic style out of polypropylene 2mm cord. Will probably need to wrap the pouch in leather to give ammo a proper grip. Pros of the poly: waterproof, heat fuseable, durable, easy to work. Cons: braids and weaving not the tightest, just a touch of stretch, doesnt grip smooth stones the best.

I dare say you’ve got some great creative slings there!
I like the paracord one too:)

Thanks! I love making braided slings but they'll soon be neglected with the way the paracord and leather pouch ones have been performing. Plus they are easy to roll up and pocket.

Side by side view of the full cup and half cup versions of my pouch. Going to do more testing soon! The reason i've been making so many out of different pieces of leather is to make sure there is repeatable consistency with the design. When I am satisfied, I'll throw some pouches on the trading post.

That's the problem with paracord vs braided...you can braid a sling to look very pretty but it may not work as good as paracord. Paracord is just the perfect cordage for a sling Imo.

I agree. I've found that my very best braided slings (both natural and synthetic) can easily be matched and sometimes outperformed by simple paracord slings, with much less effort to make too.

I agree as well. I've made a fair few braided slings and the sling I have in my pocket almost every day (just in case) is one of C_A's paracord and leather slings. Rolls up real small and can always be relied upon.

pcord/leather or pcord/seatbelt seem best for lighter ammo. Balearic for 4oz+.
Best cord attachment (my humble op)

Paracord and leather make a really good sling. My little trick is to iron the paracord flat;)
I’ve been wanting to make as dense and thin a sling as possible for a bit mostly cause the paracord can be a little light with larger stones.

Whoa ironing paracord? What an idea. I’m assuming it’s gutted when you iron it? I might have to try this...

I've noticed bulkier slings feel a little more natural with heavier ammo so I think I may have subconsciously seen this as well without actually crystalizing it into words.

I wonder also if certain slings feel more natural with thin flexible cords vs heavier bulky slings. For example I feel like a paracord type cordage is almost ideal for fig-8. Thicker and heavier slings feel weird with the fig-8 to me.
