Pik, great looking sling.

How did you attach the pouch to the main cords (first Islander sling I've seen that way)?

Did you whip each section to a cord?

Here's one of my latest slings. I saw a paracord tut and I always thought looked awesome a while back and I've always wanted to make one. Finally one of my good friends, who is now a slinger, asked me to make a sling for him "that you(I) would be proud to use"

So here it is.

Dan I have questions!
1. How much cord did you use?
2. Sid you gut it and if so did you find it compressed a lot?
3. How did you do the finger loop? I can't make out much for detail on my phone screen.
Good looking sling though!

It was a lot of Cord, and yes I gutted it. It was still pretty heavy even then. I added in a fifth strand and braided for a couple inches, then I folded it over, super glued it and whipped it.

I do wish I made the pouch an inch or two longer so it could handle a wider variety of stones but it is what it is.

Here's a little bigger picture.

Dan, that is a great sling ! Never even heard of the King Tut sling before, I'll need one of those some day soon.

Here is my latest piece, inspired by a sling from the amnh collection which can be found here: http://anthro.amnh.org/anthropology/databases/common/image_dup.cfm?catno=50%2E2%...

tried to copy length and appoximate measurements but used thick leather strings instead of hide and probably a thinner pouch; bindings are hemp and dacron, bindings and pouch are waxed.

~73 cm is a bit long for my taste, works though, had a few good shots using sidearm and underhand.

I zoomed in so I think I see it now. You wove the main cords separate (to keep the pouch 'open') and while doing so wove in the new material for the pouch in with the warp. Pretty classy.  Cool I'll have to try that sometime.  Smiley

I don't have a witty sling related pun or quote to put here yet... but I'll think of something eventually.
