Thanks Timman i am happy to learn anything that helps with accuracy hahaha so even having a tassel to make it crack will hurt my accuracy or is it just a long tail?

@ Rat Man; Thanks. For a Appo sling braided from bark it was not all that bad Wink

@Tomas.  I usually leave 1-2" as tassel in my braided slings.  It don`t seem to have any ill effects.  But much of the tassel is usually worn away while the new sling is "worn in".

The idea behind a braided tail ofter the release knot was for me mostly a question of wear.  In one particularely successful Apache sling first the tassel was worn away, into the end knot.  Then I unbraided half the tail and made a new end knot.  When all that was worn away again and the trigger kno began to unravel it was time to add new cordage and redo the tip of the release cord.  My son still use this sling some times.

For slings made from sinlgle para- or poly cord I think the knot should be the end.  Leave until 1" if you has to, but in no way more than that.

timann, your slings have always been the standard I tried to equal, now you may even be (Maybe) the better slinger Sad That was some fine slinging!

Tomas, the two to four inch tails were "in" a while back, but didn't do a thing for accuracy as they slow the release Huh

Here's a blue and silver sling read to have the warp tightened. Also, it turns out that some of the nylon I use is UV reactive. Can't imagine when it would come up in real life, but it still looks cool!

My rockman got so much use I wore away a 6" tail... but it scraped the ground each shot.

Hello gentlemen!

Greetings from Russia. I present my sling. Brilliant idea about fastening pouch to sling, belongs to Mr Dale (post #215).

I can't buy any cord in my town, but I'm find - starting chainsaw's rope ("Champion" China made, but good made). All loops bonded by synthetic thread and some loops strengthened bondage of adhesive plaster.

Lenght of each sling - 3' + 2" for hook + 7" pouch.

Cool, Redneck.  But for me the fishing gear looks like weak links in your system, are they strong enough?

Yes, this element look as light and soft. But, each hook can stand the tension in the 45 kg. So, in throw moment, those hooks can stand 90 kg!

I throw stones till 1.5kg, and, I do not get sight of any damage. However, the release have a trend to fray through from hook to next 7". This place was protected with plaster (these are old photos and they do not have this change).

Actual photo:

I make more of 1.000 throws and, you can see - all right:

Okay, it seems like you and your surroundings are reasonably safe Smiley
The slings themselves seems pretty fine, and the chainsaw rope seems to do it`s job very well.

This cotton Balearic sling must've absorbed some of the sheer badas$ery of "Sharknado" as it played in the background, because I've never had blisters like these before from making just one sling. ಠ_ಠ

It was supposed to be only 74cm (29") long, but after stretching it taught, it turned out to be 79cm (31") long :p

Donner, that is probably my favorite cotton sling I've ever seen on here. We might use that one in The Guide in the section describing cotton as a sling making material if its cool with you, or we could use it in the Balearic section. Either way, its definitely worthy of being in TSG. Good work!

I was pretty good at slinging like 10 years ago.

Thanks guys! Smiley
And considering how low-quality that spool of 99-cent store butcher's twine was, the end result actually surprised me. Cheesy

Feel free to use it however you like  Cool

After I couldn`t attach files for some time I want to show the slings I made since my last picture post. I still can´t see pictures directly when I log in, but clicking on the icons they open in a new window. But maybe you´re more lucky and can see them in the post.
The unfinished version of this sling was shown in the el-Lahun topic in the Project Goliath section
