My love of slinging began a little over two and a half years ago.  I needed something to add to our scout troop's "Zombie Survival" campout (we were already doing archery, blowguns, slingshots w/ paintballs, and tomahawk throwing).  Thanks to Slinging.org I found the perfect addition to our campout. I made 45 slings, lined up everyone on a gravel road, and showed all of the scouts and adults how to sling using the underhand method. The pics are of the 2011 Zombie survival sling (pretty crude sling, but it worked), and the 2012 sling.  I'll be using the six hole pouch for the 2013 event.

Lastly, I had to add one of the slings a boy scout made for me.  I had mentioned how cool it would be to make a leather sling pouch with a skin that still had the hair on it.  A month later one of the scouts gave me the sling in the picture.

Finally got around to using a non-synthetic material(jute).  My living room and I are now covered in fuzziness, looks like I literally took a roll in the hay lol!

ya. I dislike re-sizing pics now....
Anyway, nice weaving. I sit in bed and weave for 30 mins each night instead of reading... I use sisal, dampened to make it less harsh.
trust me, it gets pretty hard to sleep sometimes, sisal on the pillow!!!
Jute is much softer, and almost as cheap. you can buy high-qaulity jute fiber online somewhere.....
maybe that place where they sell linen twine. that place has EVERYTHING!!
if only I can remember where it is.
SIsal makes nice slings, Lightslinger can attest that! Ghost will be too!

I use sisal a lot, jute a lot.

Hi everyone! So I only just started slinging 3 days ago and I made these 2 slings with what I had laying around. The top one is made with paracord and a strip I cut from a military issue sling(lol) that comes in the IFAK. I didn't have any spare leather. It works well enough, but the material was making me nervous so I made up the second one based off the 5-strand pattern by Jeffrey in the Advice and How-To's section.

I just happened to come across CanDo's post on Bladeforums and I decided to check it out. Thanks to everyone who shared their knowledge and helped me find my new hobby!

(Sorry about the picture, I don't know how to resize it. Undecided )

The sling looks good man! man it reminds me of back in the day when I made slings from materials I hate around the house, I used to have to remake them all the time because the materials would always rip.

I used to make them out of an old flees blanket and bed sheet I had laying around.
