Also bought an old leather belt in the mentioned shop that I cut into 4 long strings. Two of them finished in this sling. Of this style I made quite a lot of slings. They are simple, but perform very good at throwing.

Another two slings...

One is a shepherd sling with a pouch that is nearly identical to the one shown some pages before (the one I made the drawn mini tutorial for) with the difference that it has no attachment loops for the cords but made as a one piece sling.

The other sling is made from cotton and was first made as a shoulder strap for a bag (the shoulder part is triple for more comfort). But I never continued the bag I wanted to do and the shoulder strap seemed too sling-like to me, so I transformed it into the sling you can see on the picture. Cause the cotton is stretchy the pouch holds the rock very well. The middle string stretches under the weight of the stone a bit more than the other two.

Cleaning up the mess of all the cordage rests I found a piece of spleitex (this cord that seems natural fiber, but can be melted by fire) and leather, both too short for a sling-cord. So I cut them into smaller pieces and after some whipping I had two string slings. Considering them more a kind of recycled waste than real slings I was very surprised when I saw the first stone flying to the center of the lake where I usually go slinging. After some more throws this two slings had gained my total respect.

The fear of loosing the stones (as it often happened to me with my balearic-style sling) wasn`t confirmed, because the outer string pair can be adjusted exactly to the sides of the stone and so holds it securely until the wanted release.

Another acquisition of holiday shopping were this two wool-yarns. In effect it`s not wool, but polyacryl. When I saw them I spontaneously wanted to make some coloured slings.

The material is less stretchy than real wool, although stretchyness - I found out - is not a big problem in a sling. Wool, cotton, etc. are not like rubber bands. They stretch a little to a maximum length and then stop immediately. In a sling you reach this maximum length nearly immediate after the first acceleration.

So it`s something like a compound sling: starting with shorter and throwing with elongated cords. Also in comparison to rubber bands the cords turn very much slower to their original length after having been stretched (it needs some seconds).

In fact I didn`t note any problems with slings made of stretchy materials.

P.S. On the picture there`s some paracord for size comparison.

And here are the slings I made from it. The orange shepherd sling isn`t finished yet on this picture. The rainbow-sling is already field-tested and it passed very good. Almost hit a duck  Shocked

The orange shepherd sling finished but still not tested.

To both wool slings I added some glue on the inside of the pouches against abrasion.

So here are the last two slings, made Dec. 30th

5 cm wide synthetic belt, same stiffness as seatbelts.

Synthetic cords.

Whipping with fine cords pulled out from paracord inside and (much-)glue-stabilized jute.
