Nice, I like this pouch a lot, it looks awesome. Will definitely have to give it a go.
I always find doing woven pouches like that a struggle as I tend to weave them too tight so it's not flexible.

I made the same mistake with my first weaving experiments. All you`ve got to do is not to weave tight, but after about every 5-10 rows pull the warp cords one by one and so tighten the wefts together. To make this sling, I started in the middle of the pouch weaving over 8 warps. Then after 1/2 length of the central part of the pouch I started with the 4-warp weft. The remaining piece of the weaving-strand was then whipped around the 4 cords that formed the loop.

Lakeslinger. These are really nice. Good attention to detail.

Personal bias here; try to complete your slings without so much whipping.

Overall, very nice work.

Those look like very nice work.  Did you get the patterns for them in the forum or did you tinker and figure them out?

Thanks for your compliment. You´re right, I also think that I use too much whipping. I realize this always after having finished the sling. While braiding I tend to see the cords not strong enough, especially the part near the release knot. Here the cords are more consumed than e.g. in the middle part.
I´ll try to make my future slings with less whipping so they`ll have a better appearance.

I did both. Most of my sling-designs are based on this forum-thread, like the peruvian sling. The shepherd sling is inspired by one I´ve seen on youtube, there`s also an online shop that sells some similar designs (it`s called holylandtreasures). The idea for the retention disc or button is based on a sling from this page:

Is there a tutorial upcoming for this pouch(the shephards sling mad wig jute)?  I love the attachment loops an the pouch itself looks very clean.  I MUST have your recipe!

I would agree with Pikaru on this one for the first sling you posted a pic of. They all LOOK great. However, the shorter your whipping, the shorter your release times may be.  The longer whipping creates a kind of lever where the whipping meets the pouch and instead of the release cord smoothly "rolling" down the length of the retention cord, it probably gets "pulled" away from it in a partially perpendicular motion...
However, I've also found that the benefits of earlier release times are not always better especially if your're use to later ones..  Case in point, the first time I threw a golf ball with my LightSlinger, it ended up going over five houses and into a nearby school field(luckily no kids out at that time, lol).

Maybe I`ll make a tutorial for the pouch. Unfortunately I´m quite busy this weekend and I don`t know if I will make another pouch of this kind very soon (to take pictures), but I could try to paint an instruction the following days. Great that you like my sling. Thanks.

Had some very thick and stiff leather, as it´s used for making leather armour. After forming and softening it
with water and treating it with vegetable oil, it turned to be a good pouch material. I quickly made two slings to
test the leather. No problems with too late release...

Here is the first one

While drying the wet leather I made another sling. The idea was to make a split pouch that was divided into three instead of two parts. Weaving the outer parts I noted that the middle one was dislocated to the backside of the pouch. So I changed my plans and attached the middle part at the inner side of the pouche´s release end. This overlapping method turned out to work very well at slinging (as you may know it from the Rockman-slings). I also noted that stretching the sling into a release position the middle part is slightly lifted.
Because the pouch is divided into three parts, I considered it would be nice to finish the sling with something triple. So at the end I took 3 strands from the 4 strand braid and wove the remaining strand in. At last I made a simple knot. This combination between woven release tab and a knot turned to work well, too.

At the moment I´m finishing another triple sling without the overlap. Let´s see how that will work.
