Shhhhhhh! We just won't tell him. Three out of four "politician's buzz words", cheap, quick and easy. All we have to do is make them popular. I especially like the works great bit!

Seriously, some of the slings I see here deserve to be on display in a gallery. How anyone can put dirty rocks in them beats me?

Here's my 5th sling. Aussie pouch and 550 cord. Wears on the wrist pretty well.
Slings like a dream.

I never considered wearing it on my wrist.  I'll have to give that a try.  ...and I agree, Aussie.  Many of the slings displayed here (not mine) I'd hang on a wall and never use.

I like slings with soft pouches that wrap around the projectile.  I find them very accurate and easy to use.

I think you'll find like I did that you get better, cleaner releases with the ammo on the other side of the pouch.

Massi - WTF? It's called a sling. You use it to throw rocks farther and faster than you could otherwise. That's all.

Nice sling! I think soft pouches are a bit harder to use, they seem to release a bit early. Also there's no "oomph" when the rock leaves the pouch. Not sure if that makes sense, but that's how I'd describe it.

I have been making some girl slings lately.  The one to the left is 16-strand braid, intended as a fun extra gift for a young family friend on a more special occasion.  As it is of a somewhat "museum quality", I made a simpler user model with 4-strand braid.  The pinkish one goes to my brothers daughter.  Neither of those girls is more than sporadic slingers at best, but the slings are funny things anyway, and I got this yarn in dizzying colors laying about anyway.

Right.  It's an easy to make, inexpensive sling, so you can crank out a few of them, but you're not ripping anyone off.  It's as safe as any sling and works wonderfully.  The one in my picture I can get 120+ yards out of no problem.  Duct tape makes a good sling but I like medical tape even more.  With use it becomes very soft and wraps itself around your projectile like a rag.  Plus it's extremely durable.
Great looking girls' slings, timann.  I'm going to have to learn more braids.

Here's two blackwidow slings I made.  I followed the Knotty tutorial and added in a leather pouch.  The thread is cotton.  One is 23 inches.  The other is 29 inches.

hmm.. i think that'll work

don't worry about the players in the background. We were slinging handballs and tennis balls against a wall, totally away from them. When I change schools next year, I'm gunna be slinging into the Hudson River
