A B&W acryllic yarn (made from recycled plastic bottles!) over hemp core; 30.5" from release knot to pouch ctr. Pouch is about 2 1/4" wide x 5 inches woven with two strands Rockman style. Reverse twist whipping and a cappuchin knot for the release. Great tennis ball launcher, but doesn't like golf balls unless I put a few stitches in the pouch to close the gap. Don't think I will. Have plenty of golf ball launchers!

Thanks dork! They take a bit more time to make, but to me, they are worth the effort.

Does it feel any different, being made from recycled plastic?

Thanks paleoarts! Found some jute that looked pretty good. First sling I have made completely out of jute. Four 1/16" cords doubled. Thirty inches from release knot to pouch ctr. Reverse wrapped whipping (thanks timann!) Another wide pouch. This sling is light. Lighter than I like them.

that's a beauty, Walter. i actually like it better than the other (there's my natural fibers bias showing through). do you prefer the split pouches over solid?

Hey, thanks for the feedback on my slings!

Paleo, I used to think split pouches had to be the dumbest idea since ramblers. Then for some reason I tried one and haven't made a solid braided pouch since. If you make the pouch right, you can sling small, medium and large ammo. I like the way they look and the way they work. The last two (pictured) have really wide pouches. I don't know why I did that, but I'm going to go back 3/4 inch per split.

Fundi, I'm assuming you mean the natural fiber (jute) sling. I like it ok, but in my op, it isn't as good as the b&w over hemp core sling. I don't know exactly what jute is made of. Looked it up and still don't really know. I do know it's a bit light and actually feels dry. I coated it with besswax, but will have to give it another go. The thing just sucked it up and next day still felt dry! But then, as you know, if you need to make a fire... Haven't run across any flax yet, so I still think hemp is probably the best natural fiber for slings.

Yep, I meant the second sling. And I agree with you about slit pouches. I've really come to appreciate them a lot lately, though not or any ammo.

I'm currently using solid pouches of rather soft material (flax, cotton, leather) for small projectiles (pebbles, lead sinkers), twist-woven slit pouches (mostly jute) for medium size ammo (around golf ball size) and Aussie-style leather pouches for everything up to tennis ball size. Work quite well for me.

Walter, I think both of your wool and jute slings are great.  OK, the wool thing is extra great.
I got my own little project going on now, after seeing your pictures.  It will be jute with a wool split pouch and whipping.  Stuff I got laying around.
It will be thin and wery light and pocket friendly, that`s how I prefer it right now Cheesy.
I too tend to like split pouches, but for golf balls and other smooth stuff l prefer others(leather, seat belt,etc...).
