Thanks Camo-sling! I don't know if there are any detailed instructions, but if you look at some of the older posts (several years ago and more) you will probably see a few with braiding hints here and there. Try a search for "whip sling". That one has a core.

Rockman said straight wool slings are a bit stretchy, so I decided to try one with a hemp core. For the most part, I just winged the whole thing.

I'm happy with the way it turned out, but will still make a few changes in the next one. It weighs about a tenth of an ounce, doesn't stretch, has a good feel to it and the pouch hangs on to tennis and golf balls, and large or small (golf ball size) rocks.

Hit on the hemp size and number of strings by accident. Four one sixteenth inch in diam cords and then doubled. Six, 4 ply yarn cover it just right. Finished diameter is 5/16".

xxkid123, I like your Rockman sling. Have you tried it yet? How do you like it compared to the other two?

Here is my latest slings.  Two simple split pouch slings where I have tested different degrees of tapering on the release cord, and a Rockman sling.  When I made this slings I tapered them in a way demonstrated by the_warrior_yety, wich makes the tapering smooth and invisible.
The Rockman sling is of the 4-strand round braid type.  They seems to have become rather popular lately Smiley
I had not made one in weeks, and had to find out if I still could do it, I guess the answer is yes;)

Both the split pouch slings may seem a little scruffy, they get stuffed into a pocket and carryed around all the time Wink

Here´s a sling I made last night. Strings are at random for a wild look and I made it a solid pouch for a change.

this is my new sling, i saw slinger87's sling that was thin, and that day i also tried making a bow string...

i made it by folding in half a length of jute and finding the middle. about 2.5 inches on both sides down i knotted it together for a finger loop, then i twisted it to 22.5 inches and knotted it once more, leaving the space open, i knotted it again 5.5 inches down, and continued twisting to finish the cord. i didn't bother with whipping as to that fact that i thought the sling was too thin to hit the rock with anyways

picture will be changed smaller soon
