After going through some old boxes in storage at my parent's house, I stumbled across my very first Aussie pouch, vintage 2008-2009

It's such an early one that it's even labelled--good ol' #194A.

I believe it's one of the last few he actually bothered labelling, Lol.

I'm glad I kept the nice, labelled one tucked away, and kept the unlabelled one for actual use instead. I remember accidentally clipping one of my Aussie pouches on sharp desert granite when attempting an Underhand, and I believe it was the companion pouch that came with this one. I was forced to retire it, since the granite clipped through most of one of the straps. Tongue

Hi Lakeslinger, I'm always amazed at how many slings you're able to make. Nowadays I only spin out one every couple months but I'm slow and finicky.
Do you have a favorite from this batch?
As well, you should try using a marudai. If you're making that many slings it'll make it easier on your hands and give you a whole other spectrum of techniques to try.

I´ve already thought about selling some slings on e..y, but in Germany slinging is too unknown to sell them for a good price (i.e. making-time vs. earning ratio) and maybe there could be some problems about selling "weapons", I mean if somebody buys it and uses it as a weapon. Maybe it´s not so bad that slings are quite unknown to many people: in Germany they aren´t even mentioned in the weapons law. Our government is quite fast in forbidding "dangerous" things. A sad example is the knife law from 2008, since then we´re not allowed to carry one-hand opening locking knives without a legal reason (which is not specified i.e. depends on the interpretation of the police officer).

The last sling I finished was quite spontaneous, it literally developed itself. Being kind of bored I made a chain hitch with a short piece of thick jute. Then the idea came to try a new pouch design, so I knotted the ends together. The last piece of jute I wove into the inner sides of the chain and there I had my warp cords. Thereafter I picked up a thinner jute cord and wove the pouch using a twisted weave. It turned out nice, but I haven´t tried it yet how it performs.

My favorites are the tut and the rockman sling. Both throw very well. But I think the leather split pouch will turn out very good when it`ll be finished.

The problem with a marudai is that you can´t make a sling like I use to do. I often carry a small plastic bag with cord or an unfinished sling in my daypack and work a bit when sitting for 1/2 hour. Only a few slings I made at home.

At the moment (having skipped finishing the leather split pouch one) I´m working on a cobra knot sling.

Tomas, it's a finger loop braided 4" long so it'2" when folded. Made it a little big so that when I add leather it should be just right. And yes, it feels just about right weight wise and think it will be just right when I add leather. Threw tballs and a few 4 oz rocks from it today. Didn't want to quit. Happiness
