I recently finished our high school's production of "Grease!" in which I had to cut my hair (which I have been trying to grow out for quite some time) for the role of Kenickie. So I cut my hair and styled it in a dovetail.

Now, the play is over, but I'm lovin' the hairstyle! The thing is it uses a lot of grease/pomade.

So, does anyone know a way that I can make my own grease/pomade/wax?

Does anyone know where I could get petrolatum? It turns out that Murray's Pomade is made of petrolatum and mineral oil so I think that if I get my hands on those materials I can make my own...

Be creative.....look around you.  If there are any beehives in the area, get out your trusty sling and knock one down.  Carefully extract the beeswax and you should be good for a few days.  Whenever I need wax for my dove tail, I always try and hit the top of the hive with a good rock, making sure not to hit the queen bee, they go nuts when I do that.....and then even I can't knock them all out of the air before it's time to turn duck tail and run!

Oh cool. It doent clog up the barrel? I always get one of those white patches (im very new to muzzle loading i dont know all the names yet) and stick that into my mouth.

the lanolin will also waterproof it to some extent.  you could use petroleum from just about any drug store, and not even worry about mixing in any minerals, they are probably just for the smell.

      Oddly enough, ordinary SPIT ( saliva ) works well as a patch lubricant, although legend has it that bear grease was much favored by the eastern Longhunters and in the west by the Mountain Men.
Spit works well because black powder fouling is water soluble. I have never had any of the grease type lubricants clog the barrel, but I have had a ball stuck halfway down the bore when the fouling became really heavy. It is necessary to swab the bore once every few shots to remove the fouling to ensure easy loading. Of course, this is when shooting muzzle loading rifles with a tightly fitted patched round ball.
This explains why smoothbore muskets with undersize ball persisted in use for so long; they were not very accurate, but were easy to load even when very dirty.

Okay, problem. There's this thing called Dax Vegetable Oil Shampoo that gets the grease out of your hair. But, I can't find it!
So far I've just been showering and washing my hair and letting the grease stay while adding a little to compensate from lost grease from the other day. Now I'm worried if I keep it in for too long it'll smell.
I've heard of adding bonding agents to your hair to help, like adding flour but, I don't feel like doing that so... what do I do?
