Slings at the Smithsonian
Apr 9th, 2006 at 12:58am

I was able to locate several pages of slings in the Smithsonian Institute collection. I had to fill out a form and wait for them to e-mail me the info. Like I said, it is several pages long so what I have done is e-mail it to Chris in the hope that he can put some of the best pictures here.

Cool!  I can't wait.  Are they slings of the world, or from a particular area?

I did receive the email, thanks bigkahuna.  I didn't see any pictures though?  I haven't had time to really look it over; pretty swamped with other work right now.

I'll see if I can work on that Chris. I also mailed you some pics from the American Museum of Natural History collection. Hope you can post them.      Thanks!

I contacted the Smithsonian again today after going through 118 pages of slings and sling stones in their collection! There were references like"20 assorted Peruvian slings"  etc. In any case I am trying to get some pictures out of them. Will keep you all informed.  Wink

They did ask if I wanted to view any of them. I think however, that they might be a tad squeemish about letting us try any. Undecided
