That's a nice ad there.
Politics schmolitics.
Immigration is a fundamentally excellent thing for a country. Solely in terms of economics, immigration will provide what an ageing population needs. In my country, I know, we need immigrants, because everyone's getting older (staying around longer instead of letting the inevitable occur - scared of death), and young immigrant men will provide the labour required to power our economy to feed this growing grey horde. People, greedy, stupid, myopic people, are no longer having children, which they see not as the primary reason for their life, or the way by which their life will be defined, but as an inconvenience.
Immigration is what your country is. I know that here in England, we have 383 people per square mile. In America, it is 76 people per square mile. I think that maybe immigration is not something you should stop. (And Australia, with its ridiculous immigration controls, has a density of 6.4 people per square mile.) Why halt immigration? These people will work hard. The only drain that they will create to the economy is if they start sending money home, to family.
Quote:Even 3rd world bannana republics know that if you are being targeted by terrorists you close the border to unsecured entry, NOT open it wider......Heck, even Australia has higher immigration standards than we do.....requiring visitors to be hosted privately for one year before applying for work.
I live in a country that has lived "under the threat of terrorist attack" for my entire life, and from long before then, the majority of the 20th century. We have always had our borders open; even when the Troubles were at their worst, and the Irish were coming to England, bombing department stores, shooting coppers in the street, we didn't close the flipping borders. Terrorism is not a big threat. You are more likely to be killed doing so many other types of innocuous activity - driving, catching a bus, flying a plane, going hunting - than you are in a terrorist attack. I wouldn't be too worried about terrorists if I were you. Everyone seems so paranoid, afraid of death, like you can somehow avoid it.
Quote:And so we sit back and write rants about the governments mismanagement. After all, it's their fault for letting this happen. And we say "why aren't the american people up in arms about this?". Time to wake up, guys, YOU are the American people, so what can we do?
Only New Hampshire has the constitutional right to rebel against a government they don't like. The rest of you guys will have to try and get amendments. (Yeah, like that's going to happen.)
And you say that immigration harms government welfare programs. I say: What government welfare programs? You don't have a national health service like other civilised countries - you just turn off life support machines when someone can't pay. People on the minimum wage can't really
live (see 30 Days, for instance), and you don't give benefits to anyone. And, before you tackle the bloody terrorists (who are, for the most part, an imaginary enemy) or "poverty in Africa" or any other stupid campaign, you should start
using renewable energy resources, turning off your bloody computers, hold back on your use of cars... It's really quite simple: Either you worry about people destroying your "civilisation", and really giving half hearted attempts, and you exacerbating the situation, or you worry about something real, that can and probably will kill many many millions of people.
