Duct tape doesn't seem like it would be able to grip the rock though... It's so smooth, I think the rocks could slip out (of course, it probably wouldn't be hard to keep the rocks in, but just a thought) Tongue

i made a sling with a ducktape pouch a couple days ago (pics coming soon). it feels very strong. although i haven't had much of a chance to try it out, rocks don't seem to have a problem staying in (I use mostly oblong rocks though).

That looks cool! Shocked

And then to make a symetric pouch you just do as you do at the left in the first sling?

I'll try to make this sling, I really liked it!

Gard

Right, Gard, make a shorter overlapping and give it symetric form (squared, oval, diamond etc... just what you like) you can get any shape and dimensions you like Cheesy
Hrer's a long square, but you can make shorteror whatever you like, just form it with your hands

That looks SOOO much easier than the netted sling I made (more or less Undecided) yesterday! Shocked Awesome tutorial Zorro. Is there a way you can put it in the "Guides and Articles" page?

I think Chris or any of the forum admins who can handle the forum can do that. They can use my post and pics as they please  Cheesy

Yes CanDo, it's a lot more durable, and it adapts to the projectiles very good, not as stiff and slippery as plastc tape,  Medical tape is not expensive, that  roll on the tutorial may be cost  about 5 or 6 $ and i think i've made 8 or 9 biiiiiiig pouches loke that on de tutorial.4  layers thick, if you make symetric pouches may be you can use it for 20 pouches or more.
Medical tape is also available in other widths, from 1 cm  1" and 2" the one in the pic is 4" wide.
Ask for the kind made of fabric, cause they sell different kinds, plastic, and hipoalergenic wich is like paper.

Certainly stopped my current project dead in its' tracks.

I'm looking for a local source for 4" medical tape, so I can add one of your Medical Tape pouches to my current braid.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Up several levels I stopped my current project.
Didn't have medical tape so used Duck Tape. Made a large pouch symetrical diamond shape 12"X4" could throw large grape fruit sized object ok also handeled tennis ball size ok.
The cord forms a ridge on the leading and trailing edges of the pouch so fall out was not an issue. Seems to digest variable sized ammo ok.
Sling aproximately 45" from pouch center to stopper knot. Pouch very slick but ammo stayed put. Don't care for the slickness so tore it out and replaced with 9'X3" leather pouch...
Now I need to shop for some wide cloth medical tape.

I use medical tape slings almost exclusively(although when I get my hands on some leather, I will make one of the Yurek's overlapping design), the only exception is one with duct tape pouch for throwing iceballs, fallen apples, potatoes et cetera. I use only two layers of tape for slings used to throw small(like 2 centimeters diameter) stones. They are durable, quick and cheap to make... what else can you ask for?
