You know i dont know? he likes to say that he has traveld the world around collecting rocks. He has gypsum from brazil, some other kind of odd named rock from asia...Lots of fancy stuff. I dont much trust all that comes out of his mouth seems like alot to do just to get some rocks to sell at a flea market Smiley

Thats OK. If he ever gives you the true story let me know . I don't need an exact location so his source is safe but a general statement whould be cool . I tried pressure flaking the stuff and it was encouraging . Let me know in the future.... 8)

wow. this thread is making me feel quite useless. i can carve, but not really. i can do some nice pyrorgraphy, good for gifts, but i don't think anyone would want to buy them. My first bow was pretty much a success.... I think that I could make a really nice one for someone interested in trying out archery, but by shipping costs alone it would probably be cheaper to just buy one at a sports store.

first bow, I know it's not pretty but if anyone is interested, i'm pretty confident that i could make a really nice bow for a beginner (http://www.slinging.org/forum2/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=other;action=display;num=1137...; photo 3/4 down the page)

I bet I could make a nice atlatl out of wood but i have limited access to more exotic materials (like horn, antler or bone). Send me some good material, I'll make you an atlatl with half of it? Tongue

I'd love to have a braided sling... so if you're interested in giving one away, let me know what you want, and I can try to make something nice for you.

I bet that anyone who can make a handmade sling can make anything as good or better than I can. It would probably be smarter to buy it from a proffesional.
But if you want to do it just for fun, I'm up for it. Logistics like shipping costs might be a problem, but I'm just putting this out there.

Whats up with these tibetan slings i keep hear mentioned??

anyway, it seems as though trading on slinging.org is fated to die, but it sure would be cool.

hmm i have a small ammount of antler, and some more flint.. and if your willing to hold on untill summer i could ship out some hand made clay glands
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v653/DouglasTheBlack/sling%20related/glandscla...

the clay i dug out of my back yard, and fired in my fire pit.

they also have DTB in rune on the top. they fly pretty well but iI only have 3 left, there too fun to throw.  Smiley

also i have lots of leather scraps, of diffrent colors, and i might still have some taned snake skin laying around somewhere..

nice slings! do you know what type of fiber they are? did you make them?

I'd definently be willing to trade a bow for one, or maybe the bolas.
