Festivus is a celebration for the rest of us. Any one who doesn't feel quite in tune with the current holiday fare. Grin

Actually, my dad and I put up the pole on the evening of the third, and on the 11Th, when we have our Big Damn Festivus Feast, we hold our airing of grievences (I got a lot of problems with you people and you're going to hear it!) and the Feats of Strength. This year, it's dad versus my younger sister, Should be a good fight. Mom ain't quite in on the Festivus spirit, and my sister may try to think of a way to excuse herself from the FOS. Dad and I, though, we love Festivus.

Yes! Festivus certainly is a great holiday. I don't put anything on the tree, though. I find tinsel distracting.  Smiley

Precisely! that's why we have the bare aluminum pole up. High strength to weight ratio, you see. Well, to be honest, we also have the Christmas tree up. Despite how Dad and I feel about the direction Christmas has been taken, Mom and my sister, Chris, both insisted we have a tree. Ironic, really. We all spent the better part of the afternoon and evening looking for, buying, cutting, wrapping and setting up and decorating the tree, and I spent all of two minutes setting up a 5-foot aluminum pole.

Ah yes, i remember from sienfeld:

"It's time for FEATS OF STRENGTH ON FESTIVUS!!!!!"

lol. Personally, i don't celebrate it. It's a pointless, dumb holiday. But it was quite funny on sienfeld Cheesy

Festivus isn't pointless. It's about snubbing the rabid commercialist orgy that americans and others have made of Christmas, and returning to simpler, more toned down holiday celebrations, and celebrating the spirit of the thing, not the amount of loot you can rake in. trust me, I was out on Black Friday, and I was severely disappointed in the kind of behaviour I saw out of those people. Grown adults trampling each other, to death, in some places, just to save some money.
