Slinging a bola?????
Oct 19th, 2005 at 4:27pm

Has anyone ever thought about slining a thick rope or slightly weighted chain. It should, if what I'm thinking works it should unravel and spin like a bola. ne1 have a way to try this, or done it already, let me know.
This is an idea that came to me while trying to fall asleep.
                       The drum_slinger thanks you all

I think that if you have weights on each end of the cord(s) it could work. Next time I break out of prison I will take some razor wire with me and use that as a bola cord. Ouch!

How would you get it to spin flat or is it just going to go where ever it goes

No you're right, Funslinger.  I cant really see the benefits of slinging a bola unless you are used to the comfy finger loop that a sling has.

I tied two stones together, with about a meter between them, and threw them with the sling, it worked great! I threw it on a tree, and could not loosen it  Grin

we have covered this before. I have slung small chain bola's made with three one ounce  pymrid sinkers  each chain about two inches they fly great over head. but honestly I prefer a cross of chain no weights or a small piece of chain the tuck it in the pouch and hurl comes out spinning leghth wise. havent hunted with any of these.

The Chinese and Japanese have martial art forms using metal weights attached to each other by lengths of chain that are either thrown like bolas or used to entrap an enemy's weapon.
