The amazing multipurpose sling
Oct 24th, 2004 at 12:59pm

So my webbing straps are awol and my kayak racking ropes are lent out... and I need to get a bundle of molding over to the house I've been working on. An almost unheard of occurence for me to be without cordage...

But what's this in the back seat? Two slings! Problem solved yet again by everybody's favorite incredible, versatile, unstoppable stone age swiss army knife.

...

The back one is my knit one piecer. the green one is net...

Any one else have a "sling saved the day" story?

Matthias

...and yes car aficionados, that IS an '87 mercury topaz... practically mint - any offers? Cheesy

Matthias,

Sometimes I use a sling as a leash... of course, only for my dog, that often is my buddy during sliging excursions.

Nice car and picture. BTW What digital camera do you use. I think about buying some one. I'm not decided which model to choose.

In the shape, structure and position of each stone, there is recorded a small piece of history. So, slinging them, we add a bit of our history to them.

Yurek, I've had great experiences with Nikon coolpix cameras.

It's also a good idea to use a price search engine, although I don't know which ones ship to poland...

Oops that 1987 not '98...

You don't really want to know what I'm currently using for a digital camera, as I recently spent my entire year's "extra" money (and some from next year too) on a digital slr... Worth every penny, but those pennies add up to three times what the car is worth.

I bought my fiancé a canon a70 for an amazing deal and am very impressed with it. (replaced by current model a75) For web use (or even snapshot sized prints or ig ones for that matter) almost anything on the market these days is more than enough. Chris' nikon suggestion is good too. The nicest exposure metering system of _any_ camera, film or digital, that I've even used was on my brother's old coolpix...

Man, am I ever aware of this! I can use my sling for a belt, a headband, an extra arm (for carrying loads when my hands are full.) as a snare for hooking things beyond my arm's reach, as a cord for tying and securing things that need to be bundled etc...It's a very multi-faceted tool!

I have one for a hatband, and another I use as a carrying strap for my oversized water bottle.  People tend to be quite surprised when they realize what they're looking at.

My most crazy use of a sling?
As a siphon, to rack mead. I only did it for one of my 4 containers, but it sorta worked. Cheesy

"A sa siphon to rack mead?" What does that mean?  In my locality, a siphon is a pipe for moving liquids.  A rack is a place to store stuff (similar to a shelf).  I don't know what  a mead is.

Yeah, I was confused by the siphon idea.  Maybe, the sling was made of very absorbant stuff, and the sling absorbed the mead, carrying if from one place to another.  Mead is an alcoholic honey drink.  It's quite nice.

I was thinking more along the lines of straining out the mead.  Siphoning can mean that too, I think. ???
