Knight/ZaQ, keep your money in your billfolds kids!

My best-performing slings have pockets made of 2 strips, each 1" x 7". A picture showing how they're assembled is on this site somewhere. Material from a scrapped belt would work better than craft-shop leather because it's stiffer. For cords I use 1/8" white nylon cord.

I think distance-champ, Yurek, has even used this pocket design & declared it OK.

I am slinging thread around, most to Project Goliath, but a lot go to other topic too.
Cleaning up from the time we had just one or two sections in the forum.

But some topics fit here but deserve to be read again, those I sometimes move up.

If you find that a moved posts is in the wrong section, let me know and I move it again. (If I agree with you, that is.)

It is a confederate havresack I used to use in my civilwar re-enactment longago. On a normal day I just carry my sling in my pocket and use stones I find on site. Rune "The Reb"

I was at a place called Ann's Linens or something like that and I passed by what looked like an oven mit but it was square. Basically, it was a rectangular towel folded over and sewn to stay like that. It works perfectly because it hold quite a few rocks and it has a little loop where I could pass my belt through. If you didn't get my description I'll get some pics up asap.

It holds a maximum of about 80 stones although i cant run with it that full. It has several small internal pouches just big enough to store spare slings but the shoulder strap is quite thin and cuts into you if there is a lot of weight carried.

I usually just carry a handful of rocks or two to wherever I'm slinging and then just collect rocks from the area of the beach where I happen to be slinging. Right now though, I'm working on making a bag from a groundhog skin that I got from someone in partial trade for a sling, that has the hair on it and everything. It should be big enough for a couple of pounds of rocks and fired clay ammunition. That and the sight of me running around with an animal hide on my waist hurling rocks around should be quite a sight!

at the moment i hace a little hideaway set back in the woods behind my house that i use for my primitive tech and stuff area. that is where i have a small shelter set up and what i call my ammo dump. there are several large rocks back there that are about the size of half of a small car (or at least that is how much is above ground). there is a shallow in the middle of one of the biggest ones that i fill with the stones that i pilfer from the huge bunch of gravel up the hill that belong to the back of an autobody repair shop. i use a couple of bags and carry back 20 or 30 pounds of rocks at a time and dump them all into the shallow in the rock and just take from that.
