tonight's project

made my first 'simple braided' from the Articles section. used hemp. took just over an hour. just put your feet up and when you finish the finger loop put it over your big toe. makes for easy work.

here's a pic

An hour?  That long?  I've made them, take about 20 minutes.  I guess it depends how well you braid.  I have practised a lot, mind.

Yeah, that makes sense.  If you're going to make something, make it well.

Damn, I wanna make one, but I can't find hemp or sisal here.

For the picture, it seems that it is broken, because I can't see it.

Do anyone know where I can find sisal?, if not, hemp?

Don't know about hemp, but here in colorado you can get Jute or Sisal at Home Depot -- like a big hardware store.  It's in the rope department.  Otherwise, most twines will work.  I like #18 seine twine from the craft shop for the color selection.

I can't see the pic Rob posted, but if anyone can make a braided sling in 20 minutes, more power to him!

The "20 Steps..." sling takes me about 5 hours to make, if memory serves correctly. (Have not made one in a while)

One of my whips takes almost 7 to 10 hours to plait.

Maybe the "braid" goes much faster.
