WOW!

That did work.
Sorry everyone but they are upsidedown I don't know how to rotate them Cry

The braided one that I just finished making not to long ago I'm calling THE WHIRLING HURLER I made it from #18 green and white nylon line.

The next one that I'm planing on making I'm thinking of calling THE WHIP ZINGER. Barak told me about DMC 5 so I mailordered some, hopefully it will be here this week. On this one I want to weave a design into the cradle. I have the book THE COMPLETE HOW-TO BOOK OF INDIANCRAFT by W. BEN HUNT in it is a section titled WOODLAND INDIAN BAG WEAVING that shows how to weave patterns using a weave close to what I've been using for the Andean style cradle. Up until now I have been using one strand as weft and it shows how to use two strands as weft to make patterns. I also hope to use different sinnets for the release and retention cords.

I've rotated the images for you. I think you sent them to me upside down.

As for the gallery, I manually edit the pages. It gives me tighter control of the content and I can organize them however I like. When I update the gallery next, your sling will be included. I just realized TechStuff's slings aren't up their either.

Nice to hear from you Matthias

I guess that you would not be able to tell that they were upsidedown but all of the photos I had where. It was driving me nuts.

The next time that I take some photos I'll try an get some closer ones.

I didn't bring the specs with me for that sling (I was going to) RATS!. I'll tell you some of what I remember. Both cords are 8 strand square sinnet with a 2 strand core. The cradle is made from the core strands. I did mean to post all the specs today but I messed up sorry Roll Eyes

It's made from #18 nylon green and white line.

In most braided slings the area you mentioned usually has whipping. This sling does not I don't like whipping. During construction I use a constrictor knot.

Wow! That's thorough.

Does the mw knot let you adjust the size of the loop? I guess I'll have to find a piece of twine and find out! I've used double diamond knots for clean transitions between different/split braids (and laid rope/twine) and/or release end knots. Maybe we should have a "useful/decorative sling-knots" thread... help spruce up some of our (non braided works of art type) slings!

Makes a nice knot securing a tassel release.

The Matthew Walker Knot does not let you adjust the size of the loop.

I measured and made the loop to fit my hand. A running turks head knot could be used above it to adjust it smaller but I would worry about it slipping.

In THE ASHLEY BOOK OF KNOTS By CLIFFORD W. ASHLEY (one of the best books in the world) it shows the Matthew Walker Knot as being more then just decorative. He shows the knot being used as a sling (not the throwing kind) for bottles.

I love knots and braiding Wink

There are a couple ways that I could have went with at the end there.

My first cradle design weaving attempt was a failure Sad

When I switch to using different materiel of varying sizes I expect to have better results.

Currently I'm braiding a smaller version of the sling in the photos.

While I was out hiking on Sunday I gave the sling that I got for making a contribution a try. I set up a small skinny water bottle as a target and moved 30 feet away. I hit it on the 2nd throw Grin

Have you made a target per MGreenfield's specs? I believe it is 24" square with a 9" center. He posted a sling challenge a few months back. 2 points for a center hit and 1 point for anywhere else. Five shots--with the highest possible score of 10
