Stickers/Slings for Articles!
May 12th, 2004 at 4:40pm

I'm eager to expand the site's articles section to make it even more comprehensive.  As a little promotional, you'll recieve a complimentary Slinging.org sticker in return.  To qualify, it has to be of reasonable length (min 250 words), usefulness, and professionalism.  Included images are very welcome.  Work together if you like.  If they are really good, which I'm sure they will be, you'll get a free Chris-made sling.

Here are some possible topics I'm looking for:
• Casting lead glands
• Making projectiles (ceramic, cement, etc.)
• Braided Sling (a more complex version that we currently have)
• A history of the sling, either comprehensively, or some small part of it (i.e. Greek)
• Slings compared to other weapons (atlatl, bow, etc.)
• Current use of slings (Balears, Pacific Island, etc.)
• Uncovered archaeological evidence
• General how-tos, experiences, etc.

Chris

Just to refresh you memory:

I will be happy to write an article.  I'm not sure how it will turn out, though.  I should have it by next week.

Thank you if you tell me!

I'll try to write an article, maybe on the infamous topic:
Slings vs. Bows.

Maybe how to make world's simplest sling Wink

If you want to have images added to the gallery, email them to me.  My address is available in the members tab above.

I would write an article, but my exams start on tuesday, and don't end until the 23rd June.  Fortunately, that is my last exam ever at the school, and my last real day was three days ago (I have been on study leave).  Also fortunately, after my exams, I have about six months holiday, for various weaponry-related experiments (and a holiday in Hungary), and then I am going to college.  So I should be able to get so much stuff done during the holiday.

Just out of curiosity --

You have a minimum of 250 words.  Does a picture, in fact, count for 1,000?  I'm thinking of Adele Cahlendar's instructions on braiding.  The useful bit didn't have a lot of text, just diagrams and pictures.

Nice try. Grin

I only put that 250 word minimum in there to deter people from submitting one paragraph things that almost certainly would have little value.  If you've got lots of pictures that help explain the topic, that is fine.  All I'm looking for is something substantive.  If you would be embarrassed to have your name on it, it's probably not good enough. Smiley  I trust your judgment.

Look forward to receiving it Wink

If yahoo is mean and they limited my data transfer to much, it won't work.  But that's only if i upload a lot of pictures and stuff in one day.

The sticker giveaway will end in one week, June 4th.  If you've got an idea kicking around or an article half written, polish it up and email it to me.

Mr. Elliott is our second recipient.  His article has been posted in the "Experiences" sub-section on the articles page titled: "Why going backwards is fun"

Last call for articles.  I'll give you another weekend if you need to polish it off.
